The Citywide Concrete Unit supports the agency’s goal to enhance, rehabilitate, and maintain the City’s infrastructure by acting as the agency’s primary construction unit. We employ dedicated engineers, managers, support staff, laborers and adopt cost-savings and efficiency, while maintaining the highest standards of excellence and service to safety and quality.

The selected candidate will supervise the Supervisor Highway Repairers, laborers, and administrative staff assigned to the SIM/ CWC Operations including but not limited to the pedestrian ramp installation and upgrade and safety improvement projects; Candidate will monitor inventory; and ensure vehicles and equipment are operational. Attend meetings, prepare weekly reports, and monitor overtime projects. Provide updates to the respective Supervisor and to the Deputy Commissioner as required.

Must obtain a Commercial Driver's License Class A within one-year of appointment, and maintain license during duration of employment at DOT.

Four years of full-time satisfactory experience as a working member of a roadway or bridge/tunnel maintenance and repair crew using asphalt and concrete mixes; and/or performing such tasks as debris/bulk removal; mechanical sweeping, drain/scupper cleaning on bridges/tunnels or related structures, at least two years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.

Possession of a Class B Commercial Driver License valid in the State of New York with no restrictions on the use of air brakes. This license must be maintained for the duration of employment.

Four years of full-time satisfactory experience as a working member of a roadway or bridge/tunnel maintenance and repair crew using asphalt and concrete mixes; and/or performing such tasks as debris/bulk removal; mechanical sweeping, drain/scupper cleaning on bridges/tunnels or related structures, at least two years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.

To be assigned to Assignment Level II, the candidate must have at least one year of experience working in Assignment Level I or an additional year of experience as described above under "Qualification Requirements", at least three years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.

Knowledge of CWC Operations, leasing of heavy duty equipment and vehicles, and tools. Knowledge of Concrete, Pavers, Granite and other related materials. Experience overseeing a major operation. Strong Communication Skills. Knowledge of Procurement Rules and Minority Contracting. Experience in tracking inventory and supplies. Supervisory experience.

Area Supervisor Level I - Excavation
