Assistant Director (Equity & Engagement)

Chicago Police Department

Office Of Equity and Engagement

Number of Vacancies: 1

Starting Salary: $129,936 – $146,376

The Assistant Director of Equity will serve as a senior manager for the Department's Office of Equity and Engagement, reporting to the Deputy Director, overseeing a staff that is dedicated to advancing the equity and impartial policing goals and objectives for the Chicago Police Department. This position will help create and guide the vision of equity within the Department and oversee its implementation. In addition to managing staff, this position will also manage multiple high-level projects and initiatives being led by the office. This position will also be expected to often and regularly engage with communities across Chicago on CPD policies, trainings, and strategies, seeking community input on them.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Leads and directs management level staff in developing, refining, and implementing program operations aimed at enhancing equity, inclusion, and engagement across the department's services.
  • Coordinates work efforts with management in developing strategic plans and implementing changes in staffing, operating procedures, and work processes designed to improve the administration of programs, increase operational efficiencies and accomplishments
  • Manages functions including budget preparations and grant funding, human resources, labor relations, finance and accounting, contracts administration and purchasing, accounts payable and inventory management, computer support, and office management activities
  • Serve as a representative of the Chicago Police Department during public engagements, including community meetings and forums, speaking on behalf of the Department.
  • Oversee the monitoring and evaluation of equity initiatives, ensuring they are effective in reducing disparities and improving relations with diverse communities.

Days: Monday – Friday

Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Qualifications

THIS POSITION IS EXEMPT FROM THE CAREER SERVICE

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in a field related to the duties performed, including five (5) years of work experience related to the position, of which two (2) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
