Overview:
The Mayor's Office of Tourism, Sports, and Entertainment (MOTSE) supports local industry by producing events, supporting film / TV production, and marketing the city to conventions and visitors. Its enhanced focus will include working with partners like the Greater Boston Convention and Visitors Bureau, local chambers of commerce, Boston Main Streets organizations, the Global Affairs team, community groups, and others to proactively draw diverse conventions, meetings, and events to the city in order to amplify the rich heritage defined by each neighborhood. MOTSE is committed to supporting civic life in the City of Boston through public programming for the benefit and enjoyment of both residents and visitors to the city. Reporting to the Director of Special Events and the Tech Manager, the Special Events Tech Crew has the daily responsibility for the technical operations required to produce over 150 year-round events, including festivals, concerts, exhibitions, and public celebrations both Downtown and in all of Boston's neighborhoods.
Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of the Tech Manager, responsible for the setup and breakdown of staging and A/V equipment.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Must be punctual when responding to calls and arriving on site.
- Responsible for driving the City of Boston vehicles (experience driving a 14' box truck is a plus).
- Must represent the City of Boston in a professional manner.
- Performs related duties as required.
Minimum Entrance Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of relevant work experience in event production or related fields preferred.
- A High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
- Experience in stage lighting, pro audio systems, and basic video systems is a plus, but not required.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency with all Microsoft applications is a plus, but not required.
- Must possess strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule (nights, weekends, and holidays).
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Valid driver’s license or state ID.
- Must have good communication skills and ability to take direction.
BOSTON RESIDENCY REQUIRED
Terms:
Union/Salary Plan/Grade: Non-union $25.00 per hour
