Overview:
Under the direct supervision of the Director of the Capital Plan, the Project Manager II will be responsible for the management of the department's design and construction projects, including larger scale and highly technical projects, from the initiation of funding to the construction closeout.
Responsibilities:
- Managing design and construction budgets, schedules, and quality.
- Managing design consultants and contractors and their contracts and projects close out.
- Training of project managers.
- Collaborating in designer selection.
- Working with internal units that use and maintain open spaces and constituents.
- Maintaining project documentation and files.
- Assisting the division in improving policies and procedures.
- Performs related work as required.
Minimum Entrance Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture or Civil Engineering is required. Masters preferred.
- At least five (5) years of experience in open space construction management, engineering, or landscape architecture is required.
- A minimum of four (4) years of experience in management, budgeting, and scheduling of parks and open space construction projects is preferred.
- Knowledge of construction, contract practices, and knowledge of MA Building Code, general/subcontractor relations, trade customs, MA construction statutes, Chapter 30 39M, and regulations preferred.
- Experience working with permitting and oversight agencies preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills are preferred.
- Engineering or Landscape Architectural registration is preferred.
- Appropriate educational substitutions may be made.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite is required.
