Overview:
The Business Relationship Manager (BRM) is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with City cabinets, agencies, and departments and agencies. The BRM will work to align innovation, data, process improvement, user experience research and design, technology budget, policies, and projects with the strategic goals of the stakeholders under the mayor's vision. The BRMs will support other departments and agencies in the development of programs, policies, and services bringing systems thinking and leveraging technical resources - including digital communications, data, etc. By strengthening trust, communication, and collaboration between DoIT and the rest of the City operations, BRMs will enable better outcomes for constituents.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain the relationship between DoIT and the City departments and agencies.
- Coordinate the strategic needs between departments and agencies.
- Work closely with the departments and agencies to understand what their processes are and how they perform their work. Assist in identifying areas that need improvement to become more efficient, whether through process improvement or technology.
- Manage special projects, has the ability to lead certain initiatives within DoIT.
- Conduct research and assessments for technology needs, perform business case analysis for IT investments, and coordinate with the PMO on current implementation projects.
- Communicate decisions, change management, priorities and relevant project information to appropriate levels of staff regarding business unit requests, projects and initiatives.
- Proactively share knowledge of technology risks and opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness of business units.
- Coordinate with business operations by exercising oversight, applying risk/value techniques and business analysis expertise to understand project architecture and components, shape initial project requests, and assist with the formulation of high-level roadmap.
- Plan and prioritize initiatives based on enterprise needs of the city departments and agencies.
- Work with appropriate resources to document IT related processes.
- Continue to be knowledgeable of industry trends of the business and technology.
Minimum Entrance Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, public administration, or a related field.
- 5+ years of work experience.
- Strong understanding of the public sector.
- Experience with innovation, data, process improvement, user experience research and design, technology budget, policies, and projects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Excellent communication (oral, written, and presentation) skills are required.
- Excellent organizational preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite preferred.
Boston Residency Required
